Admissions and School Places

If you would like your child to attend St Mary’s school in the academic year September 2026 – August 2027, please contact the school and local authority to find out if places are still available.

As a Church in Wales Voluntary Aided School, the admissions committee established by our governing body is responsible for deciding which pupils can be offered a place at our school.

We work closely with Wrexham Local Authority to coordinate admission arrangements, as required by the Education (Co-ordination of School Admission Arrangements and Miscellaneous Amendments) (Wales) Regulations 2024.

When to apply

For pupils who wish to join our school in the academic year starting in September 2027:

Reception application forms will be available to parents from 21/09/2026.  The closing date for on-time applications will be 15/01/2027

Nursery application forms will be available to parents from 05/01/2027.  The closing date for on-time applications will be 15/02/2027

How to apply

Under the co-ordinated school admission arrangements regulations, you should read our admissions policy carefully and make an application to your home Local Authority (where you pay council tax) on the ‘common application form’.  The online application for Wrexham residents can be found on the school admissions website

This common application form should include all your school choices in preference order.  Your application will then be given to our Governing Body to process, and our admissions committee will offer places in line with our policy.  Our decision will then be sent to you by an email from the Local Authority on offer day.

You may also wish to complete a Supplementary Information Form to allow your application to be considered under one of the faith criteria within our oversubscription policy – see below.

Support with the online system is available at Contact Wrexham, Wrexham Library, Rhosddu Road, Wrexham LL11 1AU.  A PDF or paper version of the common application form is available by contacting the admissions team admissions@wrexham.gov.uk

Supplementary Information Forms

If you wish to have your application considered under one of the faith criteria within our oversubscription policy, you must ask your Priest, Minister, or faith leader to complete the Supplementary Information Form (SIF).

The form should be printed and handed to the Priest/Minister/faith leader with a stamped envelope, addressed to the school.  The Priest/Minister/faith leader will then return the form directly to our school using the stamped addressed envelope provided by you.

If the Supplementary Information Form and any supporting documents are not submitted to us by 5 weeks after the published closing date, your application cannot be considered under the faith criteria.  This may reduce the likelihood of your child being offered a place at our school.

The supplementary information form alone does not constitute an application.  You must have completed the common application form, in line with the co-ordinated arrangements.

Late applications

Please be sure to submit your application before the published closing date.  We will give places to on-time applications first, and then any remaining places will be offered to late applicants.  You should inform us if there are exceptional reasons to explain why you applied after the closing date.
