Year 2 Information

Dear Children,

Welcome to the beginning of your journey in year two. I am looking forward to working with you this year and I cannot wait to dive into new ideas, to find out what you like to learn and how you like to learn. I am sure we will have lots of exciting adventures ahead of us this year.

Year two is a ‘can do, have a go’ classroom, where we celebrate curiosity, creativity, problem-solving and kindness. We love to work collaboratively, lots of team activities that build a happy space to learn and grow. I love it when you to ask questions, explore and come up with ideas. In our indoor and outdoor classrooms, we are not afraid to make mistakes because they help us to improve. We are here to help, support and learn from each other.

It is important to remember that learning is fun, I hope that you enjoy your time in year two, I am looking forward to getting to know you.

Dear Parents,

Please know that my door is open, and you are welcome to share your thoughts, worries and any questions you may have with me. Communication is so important, and I am looking forward to working in partnership with you this year.

You will receive diary dates each half term so that you can keep up with what is happening. We will also communicate any changes to dates or opportunities that arise with you via Class Dojo, this is our daily communication tool, so keep an eye out! We will meet to discuss your child’s learning journey termly, however if you have anything you wish to talk about in the interim, please do not hesitate in popping into speak to me.

Please, name all your child’s clothing, it makes life so much easier when something goes missing!

For Forest School, we request that your child has long sleeved top and trousers/leggings, hat/cap and sunscreen in the summer and warm layers, waterproof trousers and jacket, hat, gloves, scarf with extra socks in cold weather.

Please ensure that your child returns their reading folder regularly, our aim is to develop a love of books, reading and develop lifelong learners.

I look forward to sharing your children with you this year,

With regards, Jo Richards
