Welcome to the Spring Term
We seem to be busy right from the off and in a blink of an eye we are ploughing into 2024 with gusto.
We are embracing a history based theme and topic for this term and are looking at children’s lives in the past. We have found a wonderful story by David Lucas – Lost in the Toy Museum and have taken delivery of a mislaid parcel meant for the Young V&A Museum in London and have been given permission to open it! What a lot of excitement from children and grown ups alike. We are looking at how toys have changed, what they are used for, what materials they are made from and much more too.
We had a visit from a travelling Victorian School who shared some incredible artefacts and ran a toy museum for the children to have a hands on afternoon and to really explore. We think the children were exceptionally grateful for the way that teachers have changed since Victorian times – phew!
We celebrated love and happiness on Dydd Santes Dwynwen and created Kandinsky inspired love tokens to take home.
In Jigsaw we have looked at ‘Dreams and Goals’ this half term where we have learnt that anything is possible if you dream and work hard enough. We even had a message from the Typhoon Display Team who gave us some handy hints for following our dreams. Dreams can take you anywhere and the sky is the limit in their case.
Safer Internet Day saw workshops in ‘Safety in our online neighbourhood’ and how to search for information safely.
We have continued to undertake loose parts play and visit our forest school area with only one winter storm curbing our outdoor activities. We have taken part in RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch and have been supported by Wildbanks Conservation to plant new edible hedgerow plants donated by Woodland Trust on our perimeter fencing.
