Diocese

St. Mary’s School is a Church in Wales Voluntary Aided School.  It is one of the 50 church schools in north east and mid Wales which fall under The Diocese of St Asaph.

All schools in the Diocese of St Asaph nurture children of all beliefs in the context of  Christian faith and ethos. Our pupils have numerous opportunities to walk to our local church, St Mary the Virgin, Overton, to celebrate significant events in the church calendar and the Priest in Charge of St Mary’s church, Father Jeremy Dussek, comes to school regularly to lead Collective Worship for all our pupils and staff.

St Mary the Virgin is an important feature of Overton and Wales as a whole. The churchyard of St Mary the Virgin dominates the high street and is famous for twenty-one very ancient yew trees which are traditionally one of the Seven Wonders of Wales.
