Autumn 2026 in Llyn Ogwen

What a lovely start to the year! In Dosbarth Llyn Ogwen we have been getting to know each other, working together and learning lots of new things.

We started the term with a virtual music concert, where we learnt a little about different instruments and had the opportunity to show off our dance moves!

We explored even more of our creative sides by creating birthday cards for our friends.

Creativity isn’t just about art and crafts, it’s also a vital part of problem solving. Teamwork is another thing that makes solving problems easier, as we discovered through working together to move huge tyres across the school field.

Making full use of our outdoor spaces, we also learnt about plant classification and used a classification key.

Thankfulness was on our minds in the Harvest Festival, where we donated items to Wrexham Food Bank, and shared what we have learnt with our families and the wider community.

Although harvest is mainly concerned with edible crops, we have also been looking at the growth of another type of plant – spring bulbs. We are combining hands-on gardening experience with scientific investigation by taking part in the Spring Bulbs for Schools Investigation – we can’t wait to find out the results!

Light is important to help our plants grow, but it is also important in other ways too. Bishop Gregory has chosen light as a theme for his Christmas Card competition this year, so we have been exploring what light means in a Christian context and letting our creativity and art skills shine!

From our art to other people’s….We have started the second half of the autumn term by meeting an author and learning all about his graphic novel based on a famous piece of textile art. Hopefully this will inspire our writing as much as our artwork; let’s see what the rest of the term brings!
