A message from the Governors

Thank you for taking the time to visit our school website, we hope that you are finding it useful and informative. Effective communication between home and school is essential and this website is one of many tools St Mary’s school uses to convey information to parents and potential parents.
All the governors are very proud of our school’s excellent reputation, and support the headteacher and staff in providing the best possible primary education for the children attending St Mary’s School. Our school has a uniquely welcoming atmosphere which is mentioned by everyone who visits, but it is very difficult to explain, it’s far better to experience it first hand by making an appointment to come and have a look around!

The Governing Body is responsible for staff appointments, pupil admissions, school budget, running costs, policies, whole school monitoring and development and producing the Annual Report to Parents.
As St Mary’s is a Church in Wales School the majority of the 13 volunteers who make up the Governing Body are Foundation governors. Our Foundation governors represent the Church. They are nominated by the Maelor Mission Area and appointed by the Diocesan Board of Statutory Education and the Bishop of St Asaph.

We currently have a vacancy for a Foundation Parent Governor. Please contact the chair of governors (via the school office) for more information on how to apply for this role.
The Parent governor is elected by a ballot of parents, the Teacher governor is elected by a ballot of St Mary’s School teachers and the Staff governor is elected by a ballot of our non-teaching staff. The Local Authority and Overton Community Council each nominate a representative. Each governor is appointed for a 4-year term of office.

Our Clerk, appointed by the Wrexham Local Authority Governor Support Service, is Sue Nield.
