Autumn 2026 in Llyn Elsi

What an exciting and busy first term it has been in Reception!

We have been spending time settling into school life, making new friends and learning our classroom routines. The children enjoyed a fantastic “Make Some Noise” music experience, exploring sounds, rhythm and creativity.

In our learning, we have explored science and technology by investigating simple electric circuits and discovering how electricity works. Our “Me and My Family” topic gave us the opportunity to share special memories, talk about the people who are important to us and learn more about each other.

A real highlight was meeting the author Rachel Morrisroe, who inspired us with her story Grizzly Grim. This helped to develop our love of books and storytelling. We have also begun our handwriting journey, working hard to form letters correctly and develop the skills needed for writing.

Outdoor learning has been full of creativity and teamwork. Using loose parts, the children designed and built homes, before taking on exciting LEGO challenges to create their own houses. We also came together to celebrate Harvest in church, reflecting on gratitude and helping others.

Most recently, the children took part in Heartstart, where they learned important life-saving skills, including an introduction to CPR. We were incredibly proud of how sensible and engaged they were throughout the session.

We are so proud of everything the children have achieved this term. They have shown enthusiasm, resilience and a real love of learning, and we cannot wait to see what next term brings! 🌟😊
