A Wonderful Start to Year 1!
We can hardly believe how quickly we have settled into Year 1! The children have embraced their new routines beautifully and are thoroughly enjoying all the exciting learning opportunities on offer.
Photos coming soon!
We have loved being back in the woods with our friends, exploring and discovering the wonders of our unique Forest School area. As part of our learning about Jewish festivals, we celebrated Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. We were fortunate to spend time with Liz at Ma Baker on Overton High Street, where we made delicious challah bread. We enjoyed it alongside pomegranates and apples dipped in honey, traditional foods that symbolise hopes for a sweet and happy year ahead.
At Forest School, the children worked collaboratively in teams to design and build their own sukkahs for the festival of Sukkot. Following a design brief, they demonstrated excellent teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills throughout the challenge.
We were also delighted to welcome author Rachel Morrisroe into school. The children thoroughly enjoyed hearing about her books, especially Oodles of Poodles. Our thanks go to Booka Bookshop in Oswestry for helping to make this special visit possible.
In Maths and Science, for one of our activities, we have been investigating the signs of autumn, collecting natural objects and exploring different ways to sort and classify them.
We were incredibly proud to celebrate Harvest at St Mary’s Church, where the children performed a poem, song and prayer with great confidence. It was wonderful to share this special occasion with our families and friends, who thoroughly enjoyed the celebration.
What a fantastic start to the year it has been. We can’t wait to see what the rest of Year 1 brings!
