Summer 2025 in Llyn Bach

This term, our theme has been Journeys, inspired by the wordless storybook Journey.

Literacy & Expressive Arts – We created our own artwork and imagined where the magic pencil might take us, using expressive language and our creativity! We also explored journeys through the adventures of our class bear, who has been on some exciting trips.

Science and Technology – We built our own cars using junk modelling and investigated floating and sinking by making paper boats.

Outdoor Learning – During Outdoor Learning Week, we enjoyed sensory walks, planted seeds and flowers around the school, and crafted beautiful natural mandalas. In forest school, we discovered a magic door and imagined where it might lead us when we stepped through it!

Maths – We explored patterns by making our own repeating designs. We used scales to measure and balance objects. Using our fine motor skills, we added pompoms to transport pictures by counting carefully. We have also been practicing writing numbers up to 10 and created pictograms showing the different ways we travel to school.

Health & Wellbeing – We played team games like Treasure Islands, where we practiced moving safely within a space. We’ve been preparing for Sports Day and enjoying other team activities. We also made lovely flower posies to share with other classes and take home to our families.

Transition Day – We spent an exciting transition day in Reception class, Llyn Elsi.

Coming up this term…

  • Our Sports Day celebrations
