Autumn 2024 in Llyn Tegid

It’s been a busy start to the Autumn Term here in Dosbarth Llyn Tegid. We have welcomed Will from Technocamps into class to help us learn how to create virtual circuits using Tinkercad, linking to this term’s Science topic of Light & Electricity.

Members of the Xplore Science team have also visited us to deliver an interactive session entitled ‘Building Wisdom’. Wisdom is our RE value this term and we looked at the link between Science & Technology and Religion, and how wisdom is a vital component underpinning both subjects. We also got to make some fun constructions – aiming to make an earthquake-proof building.

As a class with quite a few football fans (Wrexham, of course!), we enjoyed a live assembly with Lili Jones from Wrexham Women’s Football Team. It was a chance to learn more about Lili and put our Welsh skills into practice, hearing Lili speaking Welsh to tell us all about her likes and interests.

As part of our WW2 topic, we dressed up as evacuees and took a trip back in time to Stockport Air Raid Shelters, and after half term, we had a trip to Dangerpoint in Talacre to learn about safety and essential life skills.

Pupils from Llyn Tegid shone in the Bishop’s Christmas Card Competition again this year, with Robyn’s design coming second overall and being featured on the back of Bishop Gregory’s cards. Emmeline’s design was very highly commended and Aria, Emily and Joseph’s designs were highly commended.

On December 10th and 11th, Llyn Tegid pupils joined those of Llyn Brenig, Alwen, Ogwen and Cau to delight audiences with two magical Christmas concerts held at a very atmospheric St. Mary’s Church. Both performances were met with packed audiences of proud families and friends, who applauded the children’s enthusiasm and effort.

Our final trip of the term was to the Storyhouse in Chester on Friday 13th December to see the Sleeping Beauty pantomime. It was a modern retelling of the story with some up-to-date pop songs that had the children up in their seats singing and dancing.

Nadolig Llawen – Merry Christmas from Llyn Tegid!
