Autumn 2026 in Llyn Alwen

Welcome to Llyn Alwen

I cannot believe how quickly this half term has whizzed by! Llyn Alwen have settled wonderfully into life in Year two and are keen to learn lots of new things. We have already enjoyed so many exciting experiences and are developing into a confident, caring and enthusiastic class.

At the beginning of the year, we worked together to create our class rules. By sharing our ideas and listening to one another, we agreed on ways to help us play, learn and work happily together. These rules have helped us to create a kind and positive classroom where everyone feels respected and valued.

As part of our learning about Judaism, we explored the festival of Rosh Hashanah. We examined Jewish artefacts and enjoyed tasting apple and honey during snack time. One of the highlights of our learning was a visit to MaBakers, where the wonderful Liz taught us how to make our own Challah bread. She then baked our creations and kindly delivered them to school so that we could take them home and share them with our families. It was a fantastic hands-on experience that helped bring our learning to life.

We then learned about Sukkot and took our learning outdoors during Forest School. Working as a team, we designed and built our own sukkahs. We shared ideas, communicated effectively and thought carefully about everything a sukkah needed to be successful. It was wonderful to see such excellent teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills.

We have also loved spending time in our new Reading Boat area. It has quickly become a favourite space where we can relax with a good book, read with our friends and talk about stories together. It has been lovely to see our enthusiasm for reading continue to grow.

With books very much in mind, we were incredibly lucky to welcome a special visitor to school. We enjoyed an amazing interactive afternoon with author Rachel Morrisroe, learning all about her new book, Oodles of Noodles, and discovering how she creates her characters and stories. The experience inspired us to think creatively and develop our own ideas as writers. A huge thank you goes to Booka Bookshop for organising this wonderful event and to the parents who supported it by purchasing books.

We also enjoyed celebrating Harvest. We learned a new poem and song, created our own props and performed in front of a packed church. We were incredibly proud of ourselves for showing such confidence and enthusiasm while performing for a large audience. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our talents and celebrate all our hard work.

We are extremely proud of everything we have achieved so far this year and look forward to sharing many more exciting learning adventures with you throughout the coming terms. Keep checking our page to see what we’ve been up to!
