We’ve had a busy and exciting start to the term here in Dosbarth Llyn Cau!
Class Representatives
Our class have been hard at work electing our class representatives for the various school councils. Each child who stood for election prepared and delivered a speech to their classmates, outlining why they would be the perfect candidate for the role. It was truly inspiring to hear so many thoughtful, passionate, and confident speeches. We can’t wait to see the positive contributions these young leaders will make over the year as we continue working together to make our school an even better place.

British Sign Language Lessons
We also enjoyed our very first British Sign Language lesson with Miss Debbie and Miss Abbey. The children participated with great enthusiasm and did a brilliant job learning to finger spell and ask simple questions such as, “What is your name?” It was a fantastic introduction to inclusive communication, and we’re excited to continue learning more.

Outdoor Learning
Although the weather was a little too windy for Forest School this week, we didn’t let that dampen our spirits! Instead, the children designed and created their very own kites. What a fun and creative session it was, a great example of teamwork and problem-solving in action. Da iawn pawb!

Introducing Our Year 5 Play Together Team!
We’re thrilled to introduce our newly trained Year 5 Play Ambassadors! We welcomed Richard from the Active Wrexham team, who delivered a fantastic training session designed to help our pupils lead fun, inclusive, and engaging playground games. The children learned how to encourage others, organise activities, and ensure that playtimes are enjoyable and welcoming for everyone. A huge thank you to Richard for his time, energy, and expertise, it was an inspiring and informative afternoon. Our ambassadors are now ready and excited to take on their new roles. We know they will help make playtimes at St. Mary’s even more fun, safe, and inclusive for all. Let the games begin!

Making Positive Choices
This week, we also welcomed PC Mark to St. Mary’s, who led a thought-provoking workshop on anti-social behaviour. The session encouraged pupils to consider what anti-social behaviour is, the consequences it can have, and why it’s so important to make positive, respectful choices in our everyday lives. Thank you, PC Mark, for your continued support in helping our children grow into thoughtful, responsible citizens.

Science Comes to Life with Xplore!
We tuned in to a live science lesson delivered by the brilliant team at Xplore! in Wrexham, and what an exciting experience it was! From a fire in a bottle to experiments filled with bangs, pops, and surprises, the session was packed with eye-catching investigations that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. The children were thoroughly engaged and inspired by the wonders of science brought right into our classroom. A huge thank you to the team at Xplore! for such an entertaining and educational session, we can’t wait to try out some experiments of our own.
