Summer 2026 in Llyn Ogwen

This term has exemplified how one concept can encompass many aspects of the curriculum. Working with Louise Youens we combined RVE with Health and Wellbeing by relating the bible story of David and Jonathan to our own lives, considering the friendships we have with each other and what it means to be a good friend. We used our Language, Literacy and Communication skills to recreate the story and our Expressive Arts skills to make lanterns depicting the light of God’s friendship before introducing the rest of KS2 to the value of Friendship in an assembly.

Communication is an important part of friendship, and one of the ways we communicate is through speech and sounds. The wonderful world of sound brought Science and Technology to life, and we put our knowledge into practice by making a cup-and-string telephone system to communicate with our classmates!

During Maths Week we also used our Maths and Numeracy skills in creative and practical ways, by designing a community park. We had to find the best deal for the items we wanted to include and put them all together in a fun layout that our friends and the wider community would enjoy. We learnt about getting value for money and discussed all sorts of options in a “Would you rather….?” session.

Our friends from Booka Bookshop in Oswestry came to visit us again, this time introducing us to Rachel Morrisroe and her character Felix Green. Rachel told us about what inspires her to write stories, and gave us ideas of how write our own adventurous tales. She even signed copies of her book for us to keep – we can’t wait to find out more about what Felix gets up to in the government’s top-secret Future Agency!
