What a busy and exciting start to the Summer Term in Dosbarth Llyn Cau!
We wrapped up our topic on the Romans by designing and creating beautiful mosaic-style drinks coasters. The children carefully planned their designs and showed great creativity and patience while crafting their masterpieces. The finished pieces were truly impressive, featuring a range of unique and colourful patterns.

We were also delighted to welcome a special visitor, Louise, a friend of the school. She helped us explore the Bible story of David and Jonathan, which teaches us about friendship and loyalty. The children thoroughly enjoyed bringing the story to life through “whoosh!” drama and later created lanterns decorated with important Bible references. We then used our learning to plan and present a class assembly to share the story with the rest of the school.

Forest School continues to be a highlight of our learning, offering plenty of opportunities for exploration and pupil-led discovery. We started the term with a hands-on filtering investigation, where the children experimented with natural materials to try and create clean water—lots of messy fun and excellent teamwork! 🌳

We have also begun working towards the Archbishop’s Young Leaders Award. This programme encourages children to think about how they can make a positive difference in the world by developing leadership skills, kindness, and responsibility. As part of this, we have been discussing what makes an effective leader and exploring inspiring role models. One such role model is Malala Yousafzai. We are currently reading her story Malala’s Magic Pencil and using it to inspire our own persuasive writing. Malala is a young girl from Pakistan who believed that every child should have the right to go to school. She spoke out bravely about girls’ education, even when it was dangerous to do so. Despite facing great challenges, she continued to stand up for what she believed in and went on to become the youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize winner. Her story is inspiring us to think about how we can use our own voices to make a difference in our community.
