Our theme in Year 6, for the first half of Autumn Term, has been ‘Here We Are’, based on the beautifully illustrated book by Oliver Jeffers.
The book has inspired us across the curriculum and we have written poetry, researched environmental issues to produce persuasive letters to the Prime Minister, created artwork, and given class presentations on ‘Inspirational People’ who are models of resilience, strength, innovation and creativity. The main theme underpinning ‘Here We Are’ is to draw comfort in the knowledge that we are never alone in our World and how we can seek to support and build strength from each other. Using Green Screen, we have been able to interweave Oliver Jeffer’s book into our class presentation for Harvest as the key themes of the book fitted so well with our RE theme of ‘Thankfulness’. It’s been a very busy term so far; we have also started our study of World War II and have been embarking upon investigations for our Science topic of ‘Light and How We See Things’.
