Year 4 Spring Term
Topic – Ancient Egypt
We have been super busy this term learning all about Ancient Egypt. We have done some fantastic writing linked with the topic, the children have written some super setting descriptions and diary entries. We are reading the last few chapters of our class novel of ‘Secrets Of A Sun King’ by Emma Carroll, we are all eager to find out how the story ends!
The children very much enjoyed learning about the types of food the Ancient Egyptians would have eaten and have had a go at making Ancient Egyptian shortbread. We followed a set of instructions and were careful not to burn them. The children thought the best part of the activity was the tasting bit!
We have been learning about fractions in our Maths lessons, the children were given the opportunity to apply their maths skills out at Forest School. They were challenged to calculate fractions of numbers and asked to visually present their answers.
World Book Day
We had fun dressing up for World Book Day this year too, the children took part in a whole school parade to show off their outfits, everyone looked amazing I’m sure you will agree! Year 4 also spent some time reading and sharing books with the children in Years 1 and 2. They were fantastic and modelled brilliant reading to the younger children.
We have been inspired by the Six Nations Rugby Tournament and have very much enjoyed taking part in tag rugby sessions this term. The children have really got to grips with the game and love playing, they even make their own teams and have games during on their break times…. Watch this space for future rugby stars!
We showcased our amazing artwork at the School Eisteddfod earlier this term. The children were asked to create a piece of artwork which represented the beautiful landscape of Wales. We had so many amazing entries, it was hard to choose the winners! Take a look at our winning entries, I’m sure you will agree they are wonderful!
