Autumn Term 2017

It is lovely to be back at school and spending time getting to know the children. They have settled into the routines of full time school very well and are busy learning about where we live and making comparisons with where Tigers live, as part of our theme ‘Where in the World do we live’
We are reading the story ‘The Tiger who came to tea’ by Judith Kerr The children are getting good at retelling the story and talking about the parts of the story they like.

In our Phonics work this term we are using Read, Write Inc to learn the letter sounds and also how to blend the sounds together to make simple words.
So far we have learnt
m, a, s, d, t
i, n, p, g, o
c, k, u, b, ck

We can use these sounds to make words such as; mat, sat, at, dad, pin, dog, top, cat, can, duck etc.
Feel free to have a go at using these sounds at home to practise making up your own words.

In our maths work we are practising counting and reading numbers to 20 as well as making patterns and using shapes to make pictures.
